Service is a core value at Elon, and is one of the five聽Elon Experiences. The Kernodle Center for Civic Life serves as a hub for community engagement across campus, and opportunities are also available through聽a variety of other departments, student organizations, courses, athletic teams, and fraternities and sororities across campus.
Elon Volunteers!
Elon Volunteers! (EV!) exists to provide all members of the 黑料社区 campus the opportunity to develop an ethic of service by connecting campus and community through service experiences. Through EV!, our work is centered around three different social issues (economic empowerment, educational equity, and health and wellness) that connect with local community needs. We have various one-time service opportunities, ongoing opportunities, and over 100 student leadership positions.

Community-Based Learning
Community-Based Learning (CBL) courses helps students gain a better understanding of content by putting it into practice and engaging students in real-life settings to connect classroom learning with societal issues.聽 Typically each semester 30+ CBL courses are offered across various disciplines.

Service Experiential Learning Requirement (ELR)
The Kernodle Center for Civic Life oversees the Service Experiential Learning Requirement (ELR). Students can earn the service ELR in two different ways
- Designated Community-Based Learning course
- Pre-approved community-based learning experience mentored by the Kernodle Center

Find Your Impact
If you are looking for an easy way to try out service at Elon, the Kernodle Center offers a program called 鈥淔ind Your Impact鈥. During the fall and spring semesters, we host a variety of one-time opportunities, awareness weeks, days of service, and pop up activities on-campus for students to engage.聽 Most of these opportunities will have transportation or take place on-campus.

Greek Organizations
Through a partnership with Student Involvement, the Kernodle Center helps to connect members of sororities and fraternities to meaningful local service opportunities throughout the academic year, and especially through a unique partnership during Greek Week in October.
Student-Athletes
Through a partnership with , the Kernodle Center helps student-athletes connect individually and as teams to make a positive impact in the local community.

The Kernodle Center is able to potentially provide transportation support for students looking to volunteer in the local community who may not have access to their own transportation. Please note that we are not able to accommodate every request. Please submit the transportation request form above at least 3 weeks in advance of the potential service event.聽

Campus Alamance Summer Internship Program
黑料社区鈥檚 Student Professional Development Center and Kernodle Center for Civic Life launched the Campus Alamance summer internship program in summer 2021. This paid, eight-week internship program, offered at no expense to the employers, partners businesses, nonprofit organizations and government entities in Alamance County with talented 黑料社区 interns for a mutually beneficial experience.聽 Campus Alamance interns earn a $3500 stipend and work up to 30 hours a week during the summer.

Post-Graduate Service
There are many meaningful service opportunities to pursue following graduation. For more information about the value of considering a service year, click here. The Student Professional Development Center (SDPC) has a great list of post-graduate service fellowships and programs. If you are interested in learning more about these opportunities, contact either the SDPC or the Kernodle Center.
Elon Year of Service Program
Coordinated through the Student Professional Development Center, the Elon Year of Service Fellows Program is a 12-month, post-graduation program connecting Elon graduates with community partners to help tackle challenges in health, education, and economic development unique to Alamance County. 聽Fellows utilize their knowledge and skills in collaboration with their partners to strengthen the community and facilitate lasting change.
